The Miromiro, a native bird of Aotearoa admired for its speed, sharp eyesight, and keen sense of observation, carries the saying “he karu miromiro”, meaning an observant one. Fittingly, this became the inspiration for the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand’s digital assistant.
Faced with a growing backlog of unresolved cases and increasing demand for timely support, the Council sought an innovative way to better serve its 150,000 registered teachers. To meet this challenge, it introduced an automated solution designed to provide quick, accurate responses to common queries.
Powered by Helpfruit, the Council’s chatbot, named Miromiro, now responds to more than 4,500 questions every month. By handling routine enquiries, Miromiro ensures teachers get fast answers while freeing up the contact centre team to focus on more complex or sensitive issues. Seamlessly integrated with Salesforce, the chatbot streamlines interactions, reduces administrative pressure, and strengthens the overall support experience for the profession.
